The Dalai Lama Trust

His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama has a personal interest in all the sciences and has been an enthusiastic advocate for its place in modern life. He is an adamant believer in the importance of analytical thought and reasoning.

His Holiness initiated a dialogue between himself and scientists from around the world about 30 years ago and is confident that Buddhism and Science can mutually benefit from this exchange. The Mind and Life conferences have been vastly successful and are changing the education of monks and also the opinions of scientists.

Medicine, which is a scientific field, is an important avenue in research today, with the potential of alleviating much suffering and saving lives and is worth contributing to and supporting.

“If science proves some belief of Buddhism wrong, then Buddhism will have to change.”
