The Dalai Lama Trust is delighted to announce ‘The Dalai Lama Trust Scholarship’ for the year 2023. This scholarship is fully funded and administered by The Dalai Lama Trust, Office of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Please do not submit the application form online if you have not received your latest Class XII or UG mark sheet. Applications without relevant mark sheets will not be considered.
I. TYPES OF SCHOLARSHIPS:
A. UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIPS
100 scholarships for the Undergraduate or Diploma Program of minimum 3 years.
B. POSTGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIPS
5 scholarships to the Postgraduate Program.
II. DEADLINES
Eligible candidates must apply online by May 31st, 2023 for Undergraduate scholarship and June 30th, which has been extended to August 31st, 2023 for Postgraduate scholarship. Applications received after the deadline and incomplete application and/or documentation will be disqualified.
III. ELIGIBILITY
UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIPS (any of the three criteria)
A. Students who have consistently performed well in academics but couldn’t score well in the Class 12 Board examinations. (Recommendation from school required, please download Form ‘B’)
B. Students who are responsible, sincere, honest and bearing good moral conduct. (Recommendation from school required, please download Form ‘B’)
C. Students who are orphaned, semi-orphaned or belong to a destitute family. (Recommendation from Tibetan Settlement Office required, please download Form ‘A’.)

POSTGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIPS
Only those students who have been awarded undergraduate scholarships by the Dalai Lama Trust are eligible to apply for postgraduate scholarships.

V. IMPORTANT POINTS
A. Applicant & his/her parents must have a Green Book (GB) and the GB contribution must be paid till 2022. If applicant’s parents are in Tibet/deceased/separated, please explain clearly in the application form.
B. Applicant must have a valid Registration Certificate (RC). Those from Nepal, Bhutan, Kalimpong, Darjeeling and Gangtok who do not have a Registration Certificate must mention clearly where they are from and name their concerned Settlement Office.
C. Postgraduate Scholarship applicants must be a recipient of the Dalai Lama Trust Scholarship during Undergraduate program.
D. This scholarship doesn’t include Vocational courses.
E. In the event that the applicant has have taken a gap year, please specify the reasons in the application form.
F. This Scholarship is solely for those deserving students who require financial support. If you do not need financial support, we request that you do not apply.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q. Is this Scholarship valid for Degree courses and Non-Degree courses?
A. This scholarship is only valid for Degree courses. Vocational courses or courses that offer certificates will not be considered for scholarship.
Q. Can I apply for undergraduate scholarship if I am already enrolled in an undergraduate course?
A. Yes, you can apply. However, as the undergraduate scholarship is intended for a minimum period of 3 years, priority is given to students who are applying to their first year of an undergraduate course.
Q. Can I apply for another scholarship in addition to the Dalai Lama Trust Scholarship?
A. No, this scholarship is only awarded to those students who do not have any other scholarships.
Q. Can I apply for postgraduate scholarship if I did not receive undergraduate scholarship?
A. No, only those students who have been awarded the undergraduate scholarship by the Dalai Lama Trust may apply for postgraduate scholarships.
